Riverford Farm Shop Fresh Produce - Meat
bacon & gammon
All our meat is sourced locally and is additive free and organic - except for local, free-range chicken, pork and game birds which we offer as well as organic - why? because they're good!

Both Staverton and Kitley shops have excellent meat counters with highly trained butchers. Our meat is sourced locally from farmers who share our ethos for high quality and provenanace, and we have had long-standing relationships with many of them. In addition to the fine and sumptuous array of meat you will find on our butchers' counter you'll also find a wide range of our own meat products. Our bacon and ham are certified organic and are prepared and cured by us - in fact we've been curing bacon for over 25 years. We have a wide selection of sausages to suit most tastes from the simple, child-friendly, pork chipolata to a very fiery Thai sausage. Some are certified organic whilst others are made with free-range pork - all are clearly labelled.

Meatballs are another popular Riverford speciality and over the years we've extended the range from plain meatballs to include kofta, merguez, Moroccan, Italian, spicy and Swedish and they even warrant their own recipe section. As you would expect we also make our own burgers and throughout the summer offer a wide selection of ready prepared kebabs and various meats in marinades or spice rubs ready for the barbecue.

We'd like to use this page to introduce you to new additions to our already extensive range of goodies - like our recent foray into chorizo making is now seeming like old news as Ben is now working on garlic cotechino sausage and black pudding.

For those who want to be more 'hands on' with their meat we have rput together the first (hopefully of many) easy to follow meat preparation slide show. This is our 'How to Joint a Chicken' demonstration - follow it with a decent sized chicken and maintain that you will be able to prepare 3 decent meals for 4 from it...
